Anyone who knows Curtis knows the kind of person he is. He has a highly competitive spirit and he is the one who consistently shows up—no matter what.

Need help moving? He’s there.
Something breaks? He’ll fix it.
Having a bad day? He’ll make you laugh.
Need a joke ? He’s got one !
Need an amazing grill master ? He’s grabbing the tongs before anyone can even say “I’ll do it” !!

Curtis gives endlessly without ever expecting anything in return. His family is his biggest accomplishment and he consistently moves mountains to make sure that they are all provided for. His kindness is quiet, but powerful, and it has touched so many lives over the years. You most likely can name a time yourself where Curtis Steinle was there…. No questions asked.

Curtis and Kim are taking on the biggest battle that they and their children and spouses have ever faced together. Curtis has just been diagnosed with stage 4 Metastatic pancreatic cancer. This season is all about their “lasts.”

Helping Out During the Holidays https://www.kiddnation.com/helping-out-during-the-holidays/ Mon, 15 Dec 2025 15:33:54 +0000 https://www.kiddnation.com/?p=135396 Yozzy is a hardworking single mom. She hustles to provide for her children. Unfortunately, they were in a crash with a semitruck. Sandra nominated Yozzy to help with her medical bills. We’re giving them some financial relief with the help of Legacybox. You can also help Yozzy on her GoFundMe.

Read the letter below and hear from past families HERE!

I would like to nominate my friend & co-worker Yozzy for a Christmas Wish. Yozzy is one of the hardest single working moms I know. She is completely devoted to providing for her two kids, not only working a full time job during the day, soccer momming in the afternoons, and remote working at night; averaging only a couple of hours of sleep a night.

Driving back from a soccer competition at a another state last week, her car got hit by a semi truck when they were almost home. She and her two kids were in the car and by a miracle they all survived. Her teenage daughter sustained the most serious injuries and had to be flown from the scene to undergo surgery.

Unfortunately their dog who was with them did not survive the impact.

They are all home now recovering physically and emotionally, but with all the medical expenses and having to replace their car, a Christmas gift to this sweet family would mean the world.

Sharing the Love https://www.kiddnation.com/sharing-the-love/ Thu, 11 Dec 2025 16:19:17 +0000 https://www.kiddnation.com/?p=135381 Kylie has faced homelessness while balancing work and school. Despite her hardships, she’s only ever been loving to her students. Shannon tells us she deserves some Christmas magic, Legacybox is helping us spread some this holiday season.

Read the letter below and hear from past families HERE!

I am nominating my co-worker Kiley. She is a 20 year old who found herself homeless this year after a terrible situation in her life. She is working a full time job and going to school to become and early childhood educator. She rescued a senior dog off the streets of New Orleans. This dog was attacked by a dog that lived in a house that she thought was safe. She used her money to give her senior dog the best life and medical care. His name is Skooby. She crochets little outfits to keep him warm. This crochet skill is how she gives gifts to our students.

We were so scared that due to her homelessness we would lose her as a worker and her educational journey would be in jeopardy. During this time, she never missed work. She never came with a sour attitude. Always smiling and caring for the children. Being a teacher when you have that going on is tough. Our leadership team came together to find a way for her to get extra work hours and she found a place of her own. She is starting over.

Giving a Family Hope This Christmas https://www.kiddnation.com/giving-a-family-hope-this-christmas/ Wed, 10 Dec 2025 15:54:24 +0000 https://www.kiddnation.com/?p=135373 A teacher tells us a past student was diagnosed with cancer last Christmas. Carter had a tough year, he spent it in the hospital, and his family came close to losing him. Now that he’s back home, the family deserves some financial relief. We’re hoping to brighten their spirits with the help of Legacybox.

Read the letter below and hear from past families HERE!

I would like to nominate my former student, 8-year-old Carter Wheeler. Last Christmas he was diagnosed with cancer, and he has spent most of this year in the hospital. This summer he was in the ICU for weeks, intubated, and his family was told he would not survive—but by the grace of God, he did.

Carter is now home, but still in radiation treatment and unable to return to school. His mom had to quit her job to care for him, and his dad works nonstop, yet they are overwhelmed by medical bills for life-saving medicine not covered by insurance.

His older brother, Caden, has struggled emotionally and has even been teased at school because of Carter’s illness. This family has been through so much. A Christmas Wish would bring them hope, relief, and a moment of light in an incredibly difficult year.

I met Shaleigh last school year when she started working as a nurse for a special needs student in my class. We also ended up have a few mutual friends. Over the last year we became friends. In October of this year, Shaleigh’s husband was in a fatal motorcycle accident. He left behind Shaleigh and their two small children, as well as two other children. His income is a big loss, we all know that school pay isn’t much. Shaleigh wears several different hats at the school now, but still helping with two special needs students. She always has a smile on her face and is willing to help anywhere she can. We would love if her and the kids could have an amazing Christmas without the burden of having to worry about the money.

I am nominating Nathan. He is 28 yrs old and has always worked hard for everything. Nathan has been taking care of his 15 yr old sister for the past 3 yrs due to their parents making bad choices.

Nathan stepped up and took his sister in not wanting to see her grow up in the system or with a family she didn’t know. But in the last 3 months, Nathan has fallen on hard times and lost his job — which was his only means of support for both of them.

Nathan has gotten behind 2 months in rent and his utilities are about to be disconnected. He loves his sister with all his heart and can’t bear the thought of losing her or her being placed within another home. He is a wonderful young man who has worked so hard to get where he’s at. Please help this respectful, kind, and loving soul.

It’s the Season of Giving https://www.kiddnation.com/its-the-season-of-giving-2/ Wed, 03 Dec 2025 15:30:58 +0000 https://www.kiddnation.com/?p=135316 Family sticks up for family. A KiddNation member has nominated her sister, Sharron. She has experienced lots of downs this year and could use a little extra love. Legacybox is helping us give them a pick me up for the holidays.

Read the letter below and hear from past families HERE!

I am nominating Sharron and Dominick. This has been a trying year, almost like the worst sad country song — from leaving the abusive husband, the truck breaking down, all their clothes stolen from a local laundry mat, and even the dog dying.

Sharron is a hard working public servant. She and Dominick both help take care of my mom, and would give you the shirt off their backs, but just can’t seem to catch a break.

Dominick is 14 and all he wants for Christmas is for his mom to be not stressed about groceries, or her car breaking down on the way to work. Please help make some Christmas magic happen for them. They deserve a win!

The family has been struggling after their home went up in flames, in addition to dealing with health problems. We’re giving them a special gift this holiday season with the help of Legacybox.

I want to nominate Brandi and her kids for a Christmas wish. Within the last 12 months their home has burnt completely, Brandi was diagnosed with Lupus, and then her mother had a stroke leaving her paralyzed from the waist down so Brandi is taking care of the kids, working, as well as being a caregiver for her mother. Yet, she is always the first person to sign up at school when we are needing volunteers. She helps out tremendously at all yearly events.

Even though she is struggling, she doesn’t let the kids know about anything because she says they shouldn’t have to worry about adult problems while enjoying being a kid. Please help!

Spreading The Love This Christmas https://www.kiddnation.com/spreading-the-love-this-christmas-4/ Mon, 16 Dec 2024 13:05:54 +0000 https://www.kiddnation.com/?p=132764 Malori nominated Shelbi… She’s going through a lot and could use some extra love this holiday season!

Read the letter below and hear from other deserving families HERE!

I am nominating Shelbi Credidio, who tragically lost her other half, Frankie, to a motorcycle accident in April. Shelbi and Frankie were together since high school, making 18 years this year. They have a 4 year old daughter, Brynn, who was the apple of Frankie’s eye. Shelbi was also 4 months pregnant when the accident happened. Exactly 1 week after Frankie’s death, Shelbi had her gender reveal and found out she was having a baby boy. Shortly after the accident, Shelbi also found out that Frankie had a ring and was planning his proposal to her. Her friends were able to give her the ring. Shelbi had their son, Kye, in September. Shelbi now has to care and provide for her young daughter and baby without their father. I am in awe at how strong Shelbi is, as she is still going above and beyond for her children to make sure they are happy, when most would just down. Shelbi and her beautiful babies deserve to have the best Christmas, so please help out this strong, amazing mother!

Tough Times During The Holidays https://www.kiddnation.com/toughtimesduringtheholidays-2/ Fri, 13 Dec 2024 13:29:30 +0000 https://www.kiddnation.com/?p=132753 Carrie has been extremely kind to a friend and is now going through an unimaginable time! It’s an honor to be able to help her out for the holidays!

Read the letter below and hear from other deserving families HERE!

If you looked up the word “protector,” you’d see my friend Carrie. For three years, she fought tirelessly to gain full custody of her five kids and protect them from an abusive situation. Her husband, Clint, a police officer, has worked every extra shift possible to cover the mounting court costs, which continue to be a financial strain after winning their case last month. Despite the struggle, they’re both doing everything they can to make sure their kids have what they need.

Carrie has always been my rock, showing up for me and my kids no matter what. She’s the most selfless person I know, always ready to help anyone in need. I adore her kids and want them to know how deeply they’re loved by their village. After everything they’ve been through—the tears, the setbacks, and the endless fight—Carrie deserves to finally celebrate the life she’s fought so hard to give her family. This Christmas, I want her to feel that weight lifted and see her family have the joy they truly deserve.

On 9-14-24 Derek Jordan was home alone with his mother when he heard a loud noise and went into his mother’s bedroom to check and he found his mother unconscious on the floor having a seizure. He is 15 years old. He immediately called 911 and then was told to initiate CPR until the ambulance arrived. After arrival of ambulance CPR was continued but was unsuccessful. His mother was 36 years old. Derek and Tyler have never had a father figure in their lives, so therefore, this is leaving them without any parent. Derek is a straight A student on Varsity football and basketball starting from when he was a freshman. He is having an extremely hard time because of what he had to deal with. His brother, Tyler, is a senior. I would love to have a Christmas wish granted for these boys, but especially Derek, as he has lost his only parent, and his brother will leave for college next year, and he is having an extremely hard time with this.

Read the letter below and hear from other deserving families HERE!

I would like to nominate my friend April. In January her home that she was renting burned down and she lost everything. Her and her 4 kids had to start over completely. She also was caring for her mother and also her nephew. April is currently in school to become a teacher. She is a very giving soul and she would give you the shirt off her back. With help from the school district and her job she was able to get her kids so clothes and school supplies to finish off the school year. Then this fall semester she struggled to make sure her kids had what they needed. With that being said she didn’t think to get herself more clothes. She just uses the little bit of donation she received. She doesn’t even have a jacket for winter just a sweater that’s barley enough to keep her warm. Since all of they’re decorations and tree burned as well I know the kids spirits are low and it’s just a reminder of everything they lost at the beginning of this year. Please consider my friend and her fam
